The Mykolaiv Regional Council has approved the establishment of two new protected areas.
However, this is only part of the problem. In 2021, we documented 24 similar land plots, each 1.76 hectares in size, within the reserve.
The collection includes 120 articles published during the reserve’s operation, the Soviet period when information about it was suppressed, and in little-known publications from past years.
UNCG conducted a survey to establish the Balka Slavkina nature reserve, a proposed 109-hectare site.
It is now forbidden to construct forest roads in nature reserves, a practice that foresters previously abused.
The reserve’s territory is a pristine, untouched area of steppe. It has preserved significant plant communities.
The true highlights of this location are the incredible views of the valley and the landscape reserve.
We have previously appealed to the Ministry regarding the need to transfer these premises.
This protected area consisted of two burial mounds (kurgans) and a steppe plot located between them.
