During the expedition, we investigated what is happening on the dry bottom of the Kakhovka Reservoir. In particular:
– Established 4 Biodiversity plots (EDGG) on the dry bottom of the Kakhovka Reservoir;
– collected soil samples for chemical analysis;
– collected soil samples for algological, virological and bacteriological analysis.
We could not take samples directly from the bottom of the Kakhovka Reservoir, because the distance there to the left bank of the Dnipro River is 4-5 km (minimum 3.3 km). Russian troops are stationed on the left bank of the Dnipro, and they are constantly shelling the right bank on a daily basis. Samples were taken in the bays of the Kakhovka Reservoir. We were quite close to the Russian-occupied Left Bank, 9-11 km away, but we were not available for direct visual contact.
The expedition was attended by employees of the Kamianska Sich National Nature Park, as well as:
– Ivan Moysiyenko (Kherson State University, UNCG);
– Oleksandr Khodosovtsev (Kherson State University, UNCG);
– Anna Kuzemko (M.G. Kholodny Institute of Botany, UNCG);
– Kateryna Polianska (NGO Ecology-Law-Human);
– Nadiia Skobel (Kherson State University, UNCG);
– Anastasia Drapaliuk (UNCG);
– Yakiv Didukh (M.G. Kholodny Institute of Botany).
Here are some photos from the expedition.
I remind you that we are raising funds for a car for the Kamianska Sich National Nature Park. Thank you very much to everyone who contributed. We are still raising funds. At the moment, we are short about 2 thousand euros.
