The Ukrainian Nature Conservation Group (UNCG), in collaboration with the Bohdan Khmelnytsky Cherkasy National University, the NGO “Ecosocium,” and the Kholodnyi Yar National Nature Park, is announcing the selection of participants for the “School for Young Conservationists!”
This intensive program aims to equip the next generation of Ukrainian environmental defenders with practical skills and knowledge. During the school, participants will:
- Learn effective methods and tools used by UNCG for nature protection.
- Hear success stories in Ukrainian conservation, including the establishment of national parks and the preservation of rivers, forests, and steppes.
- Study Open-Source Intelligence (OSINT) techniques as applied to environmental protection, a crucial skill for monitoring violations.
- Be trained on how to effectively communicate conservation issues on social media.
- Engage in the memorable experience of field school, including fieldwork in forests and marshes and hiking in sun-drenched steppes.
The school’s lecturers are experts in the field of nature conservation from various NGOs, higher education institutions, and institutions of the Protected Areas Fund (Pryrodno-Zapovidnyi Fond, PZF). The most active participants will receive mentorship support after the school to help them realize their own conservation ideas.
- Dates: July 7–11
- Location: The “Sokyrno” educational and scientific complex on the banks of the Dnipro River near Cherkasy.
- Costs: Travel, accommodation, and meals are covered by the organizers.
Application Requirements:
- Age under 29.
- A strong desire to engage in nature conservation.
