Don’t miss the chance to become part of a massive study of Ukraine’s nature.
We have crossed the equator of the First All-Ukrainian Bioblitz, and we can already confidently state that the scale, engagement, and scientific value of this event are exceeding all expectations! This achievement is all the more impressive given the continuous rain in most regions of the country. Nature is inspiring, and we’re not stopping!
Stunning Mid-Bioblitz Results
Midway through the event, we have achieved remarkable results, showcasing the power of citizen science in Ukraine:
- 1,071 registered participants: This community includes professionals, amateurs, families with children, and everyone who cares about nature. Together, we are building a true community of researchers!
- 570 of them (53%) have already uploaded observations to iNaturalist – activity is through the roof, demonstrating a genuine passion for discovery.
- 998 identifiers are helping with species determination – thanks to this incredible support, newcomers are confidently diving into the world of biodiversity.
- 47,626 observations, of which 21,096 (44%) have reached research-grade – these aren’t just figures; they represent a colossal contribution to science!
- 3,738 species of living organisms have already been recorded, including 43% plants and 35% insects. This is more than half of the total species usually recorded across all of Ukraine in the entire month of May!
It is particularly inspiring that people from all regions controlled by Ukraine – from west to east, north to south – have joined the effort. Together, we have covered almost the entire territory of the country where it is safe to conduct nature surveys.
The Opportunity Is Still Yours!
The best part is that this is not the finish line! The Bioblitz runs until June 8, meaning you still have time to become a part of it. Even if you just learned about the campaign, join now! It doesn’t matter when you start – what matters is that you’re with us!
Participating in the Bioblitz is more than just a competition. It is a chance to become a co-author of a major natural history study, find like-minded people, see Ukraine through new eyes, and discover something incredible.
Winners will be determined in each region separately, so no matter where you observe nature, your contribution is important. Prizes, recognition, and pleasant surprises await. But the most valuable outcome is that together, we are creating a living map of Ukraine’s nature. And it is already captivating the imagination!
